Sid Simons is an artist with a diverse and global upbringing. Having experienced life in various cultural backgrounds, Sid's musical journey reflects his multi-cultural and globe-hopping adventures. Although currently based in Brooklyn, Sid's roots trace back to his birthplace in Portland, OR. However, his upbringing took him to Sydney, Australia, during his formative years. Later on, in his early teens, Sid made his way to New York and attended high school in Shanghai, China. Returning to New York, he embarked on a remarkable road trip across America, defying conventions by forgoing his final year of school. This expedition became the catalyst for the stories that filled GIRL SKIN's debut album, the critically acclaimed 'Shade Is on the other side'. Now performing under his own name, Sid has assembled a talented group of musicians, many of whom were part of GIRL SKIN, to bring his latest artistic vision to life. Supported by an ever-evolving roster of brilliant collaborators, Sid has crafted a magnetic and poetic collection of songs that captivate listeners from the very first note and continue to enthrall until the final crucial moments of 'Beneath the Brightest Smiles'. Collaborating with renowned producer Gordon Raphael, known for his work on the Strokes' groundbreaking first two albums, as well as with artists such as Regina Spektor, Skin, Blonde Redhead, and others, Sid found a natural creative connection.
